Education

In our industry, the tax law is always changing, thus to be the best practitioner for our clients we need to stay on the cutting edge.  At NBEA, we offer high quality education at very reasonable prices.  Our speakers are renowned in their subject areas and our members leave every education event knowing far more than they did when they walked in.

Monthly Education Events: We hold education events in Santa Rosa and Novato most months of the year.  These are usually one or two CPE events that are paired with a lunch or dinner and time for networking with your colleagues.

Casual Tax Season Breakfasts: During tax season, we have casual breakfasts in Santa Rosa and San Rafael where members can meet and ask questions of their colleagues.

Wine Country Seminar Series: In addition to our monthly education sessions, we also hold one or two seminars each year. Past seminars have covered topics in depth such as Wine Industry, Practice Management, and the Cannabis industry.  This series also features the Last Chance Seminar which is an overview of all the tax changes you need to know about going into the next tax season.

Super Seminars: The California Society of Enrolled Agents hosts three days of education in two different locations, typically in Las Vegas and Reno. You can attend one, two or all three days. Special events include face time with IRS and California representatives, an exhibitor showcase for vendors to demonstrate innovative products, technologies and services and more.

NTPI: The National Tax Practice Institute teaches enrolled preparers how to represent their clients.  Sponsored by NAEA, this three-part program will increase your knowledge of IRS laws and procedures critical to representation, learn from other enrolled agents who are actively involved in representation, and gain practical hands-on experience.

I keep renewing my membership (27+ years now!) because this is the only professional organization that allows me to both give and receive professionally. What I have received from the Chapter is great education and a support network that adds to my professional knowledge and has provided professional and personal support. In turn, I have volunteered to be a speaker and a mentor and to contribute as much as I can to the Chapter and to my fellow EA’s. The Chapter has become part of my extended family!

NBEA is an invaluable life line for me. As one of the ‘newer’ members to NBEA, I have found the resources and experience beyond compare. I have come across some very tricky tax situations that only the experienced members of NBEA could help me. Be it a trust question, Corporate Stock question, a related party issue, or any other myriad of complicated situations that have come up over the years, I know that I can find guidance and support in NBEA. I will always be a member, there is no greater source to be had for everything I need in my practice.
